It’s been a rough day kitten lovers. Both my precious Tortie girls are in critical condition and currently at the vet overnight 💔.

Bindi went in for spay surgery today and something happened when she was put under anaesthesia. She was in respiratory distress and her lung collapsed. Shanti had her surgery yesterday and was just fine last night when I tucked her in. This morning she was struggling to breathe so I rushed her to the vet and she’s been diagnosed with pneumonia.

It’s all happened so unexpectedly and I have as many questions as I’m sure you do, but I don’t have any answers right now. What I would love from you all is just to hold them in your hearts tonight, and send them love for a positive outcome ❤️

The latest update on Bindi is that she’s alert and meowing and purring up a storm. She has a collapsed lung and is not eating well, so the vet wants to keep her another night. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic 🙏🏻

She’s lost a lot of weight because she’s not eating great. You’ll notice that she’s got a raspy cough. One lung is still collapsed. She spiked a fever yesterday so she’s on antibiotics. Basically she’s a hot mess but she’s just as spunky as ever, and has not lost any of her Bindiness!

The vet said she hasn’t had an appetite and over the past few days has had to be fed by syringe, which is why she’s lost so much weight. Bindi seems to be doing well. She’s her usual playful sassy self. But she still has a very worrisome raspy cough, and not much of an appetite.

Many of you have been asking about her collapsed lung. My understanding is that there is no treatment – it’s expected to heal on its own. Amazingly she doesn’t show any signs of abnormal breathing or lack of breath. Just the cough.

Many have also asked what happened and I don’t have many answers. When the vet put her under anaesthesia, before the surgery was even started, Bindi started going into distress. The vet immediately reversed the anaesthesia and woke her up. Because of this episode the vet wants to wait until Bindi is older to try spaying her again 🙏🏻 @whiskersnpurrs said.
