Meet Louie V.! This little floof cat is such a little hunk of love. His fur is as soft as silk and he has such a sweet, gentle temperament. I named Louie V(uitton) and his other two siblings after famous designers because of how regal they look. 🦁

Where did they come from?…

I got a message on Saturday from a friend asking if I could take three, 3-week old kittens she was fostering; otherwise they would have to go back to the shelter, and would likely be euthanized if they weren’t pulled right away.

My friend had agreed to foster them temporarily last Wednesday because they were “end of day” (going to be euthanized by the end of the day), and she wanted to buy them more time. However, she was leaving for vacation so she couldn’t keep them and that’s when she asked me if I could take over their care.

Four of the Musicians Babies got adopted yesterday, so we agreed to take the three kittens and put them in a playpen until we could move them into the foster room after the Musicians leave.

Louie V is one of three that I would be transferring to @babykittenrescue. Initially, we had only planned on taking the three, but plans were about to change…

This is what Louie thinks of Versace’s distaste for him. 😂

If you’ve been following my stories, then you know that we introduced Coco, Chanel & Louie to Versace, Vera, Stella & Gucci. These are two separate litters; they are not all siblings even though they look alike.

At first, the interactions went well, but then they quickly shifted; mainly for Versace. Versace has an arch nemesis & his name is Louie. Versace has been laser focused on Louie for some reason & will approach him and growl and hiss.

I’ve never seen this happen with kittens this young. They usually accept each other gracefully & just want to play, which the other six have welcomed each other very well. Just not Versace & Louie couldn’t care less. 🤣This is more common with older kittens & cats. These kittens are only 6 weeks old.

My best guess is that because both Versace & Louie are males & likely the alpha males of their litter, Versace is threatened by Louie. I do sense Versace is territorial of me as well. Versace loves human attention & affection. It’s also possible that Versace had some kind of bad interaction with other kittens or cats prior to ending up at the shelter. Who knows. 🤷‍♀️

All that matters is that I make sure everyone is at peace. So for now, we are keeping Versace separated from Louie, Coco & Chanel. Versace doesn’t approach Coco & Chanel like he does Louie, but if either one of the girls approach him, he is just as upset. I don’t want anyone having bad experiences because that can affect them as adults.

We give priority to those who are willing to adopt a pair. Gucci & Stella are bonded & Versace & Vera are bonded. We have already received a ton of apps for these two babies, but they were not officially available until now, so we want to give everyone an opportunity to apply.

Please keep in mind that these kittens are long hair and they will need regular grooming. Their hair will need to be brushed daily and they will need a bath twice a year. They aren’t high maintenance, but matting in the hair and other things are very common and quite uncomfortable for long haired cats. Their nails tend to be thicker and longer than most other cats, so regular nail trims (once a month) are a must so they don’t overgrow into the paw pads. @thekittensfoster said.
