Welcome new little kitten family ❤

Mama cat’s name is Nala and she’s very sweet and friendly, much to my relief! She had a fourth baby that sadly died and Nala’s owner asked our rescue for help caring for the family. I’m so glad she did. The little runt is quite congested so I’ll be keeping a close eye on her. Introductions to come! 😍 @whiskersnpurrs said.

I’d love you all to meet Charlotte, Wilbur, and Fern. They are eight days old today, their eyes are starting to open, and they’re totally scrumptious ❤ @whiskersnpurrs said.
Wee Miss Charlotte gave me quite a scare this morning. She was screaming incessantly and crawling away from her mom and siblings, into the corner of the nesting tote. This behaviour is often exhibited by kittens that are sick and possibly dying. As one of her siblings already died (before they came into foster care) I’m on high alert.

Mama Nala was quite distressed and kept trying to move her body closer so Charlotte could nurse but she refused. Nala licked and nuzzled her and was such an attentive mom.

I tried moving Charlotte into nursing position but she would just crawl back to the corner. I put a heating disk under her to keep her warm and she eventually stopped crying. I checked back regularly throughout the morning and kept putting her back with Nala. Eventually she just latched on and had a good feed. Such a relief!

I don’t know exactly what’s going on. The way she was behaving and vocalizing leads me to believe she was in discomfort. My hope is that it was just some bad gas or tummy pain and nothing more serious or congenital. She is fine this afternoon. I just checked on her and she’s laying with Nala and nursing 🙏🏻 @whiskersnpurrs said.

Miss Charlotte seems to be feeling good today. No scary behaviour. She had a good weight gain since yesterday. So all is well 🙏🏻 @whiskersnpurrs said.

Wilbur was trying to have a Big Boy adventure, but then mom came along and started doing embarrassing mom stuff 🙄 @whiskersnpurrs said.
