This little girl is kitten fiesty! We had many disagreements today about where it’s appropriate to pee and where it is not. She was having nothing to do with my helpful suggestions 🙄.

I could tell she had to go and I repeatedly tried to put her in the litterbox and each time she would starfish and twist her body around fighting and scratching me. Finally I put a lid on the box and put her in, blocking the exit. She immediately peed and pooped. Stubborn little monkey!

All of the cat trees are laying down on their sides so she can’t pee on them (again). And I’ve folded my day bed up. Fingers crossed we can get some good habits going asap 🙏🏻 @whiskersnpurrs said.

Their names are inspired by the place where they were rescued, a small town nearby called Port Alberni. Sproat (pronounced sprout) is a large lake, and Nootka is a common place name in the area that comes from the local First Nations.

They’re definitely starting to warm up to me, although the girl especially needs some forced lovin’. They need to gain a bit of weight before speuter surgery so I expect they’ll be with us until sometime in January 😍 @whiskersnpurrs said.
I found another little kitten elf in the foster room. Her name is Sproat 😍 @whiskersnpurrs said.
Sproat has been quite skittish and shy since she arrived, but she’s starting to warm up to me now. She is awfully sweet 😍 @whiskersnpurrs said.

These two were being advertised in the online classifieds, and our rescue offered to take them. They were born into a domestic situation but I don’t think they got much attention as they’ve been very shy and skittish since they got here. And their litter habits were questionable. But they’re already doing so much better 😍.

Our rescue scans the classifieds daily looking for kittens being given away. Free kittens are at risk of being scooped up by people with bad intentions. At best, they often go to homes who do not spay/neuter them and so the cycle of kittens continue. When our rescue takes in ‘free’ kittens we always offer to spay the mother cat at no cost.

If you’ve ever been tempted to get a kitten from the online classifieds, please reconsider. I often see unvetted kittens being sold for $100-$300 which is insane! Adopt from a rescue and you get a fully vetted kitten, and you won’t be supporting home breeders 🙏🏻 @whiskersnpurrs said.

These two munchkins have come so far in the two weeks they’ve been here. Even though they were born in a home, they were not very domesticated when I got them. They didn’t enjoy being handled, had terrible litter box skills, and didn’t want much to do with me at first. But they’ve turned into the sweetest little cuddle muffins 😍.

They just need a bit more time in the big house to gain some confidence. Their speuter surgeries are this week and after they recover they’ll be ready to fly 🐱 @whiskersnpurrs said.
