The orphans are doing well. 3/4 take the bottle well. Raven (black) still doesn’t like it. We are all tired but slowly moving forward. @theswiftiekittens said.

Keep Acorn in your prayers I woke up to him this morning not doing so well. He ate well last night and 2 am but seems to be struggling this morning. Momma Autumn had calicivirus and poor Acorn has a tongue ulcer from that but I thought we were doing well. @theswiftiekittens said.

First off, I am very sensitive about this, but I’ve committed to letting you know my fostering journey.
.
I have panleukopenia again. When momma Autumn came into rescue, she was never what I would call “right”. She didn’t eat well, she wasn’t producing milk like she should, but she was happy, loved attention and took care rescue of her babies otherwise. I kept her and her babies in 1 kennel and did my best to isolate them. After their 2-week quarantine was up, I continued to keep them confined but played with the kittens a little more and gave momma more scratches.
.
As you know last Monday I came home from dinner to a dead Autumn. I was distraught and terribly upset. She had calicivirus but I was unsure why she would die so suddenly. I tested her babies; they were negative for parvo. So, I started bottle feeding them round the clock and things seemed to be going well until yesterday. There was a decline in all the kittens, weight loss and general lack of enthusiasm around food. When I woke up in the morning, Acorn was failing and unfortunately, he lacked any white blood cells, was faint positive for parvo and had pneumonia. He didn’t make it.
.
Everyone else in my home is ok. No signs at all. Everyone is vaccinated. I started the cleaning process again. Just so you know I fully cleaned my laundry room, spare room, and guest room in accordance with what the humane societies do. In fact, I repeated the process 3 times and then waited 3 days prior to bringing any kittens/cats in after 2 months of no new kittens. I’ve thrown out everything and have repeated the process of throwing out even more items. I now have no blankets, cat beds, toys, and many other items.
I’m devastated, I’m tired and I wish this wasn’t happening again.
.
Oregon Humane Society and many other rescues all over Oregon keep having panleukopenia cases. Its terrible this year. It’s in the strays and unfortunately, I brought it into my home again when I was trying to help, luckily it’s much more contained. If you want to help check out my Amazon wishlist. @theswiftiekittens said.

The three have made it through the night. Nutmeg, calico, decided that eating churu is great and I cried. Tube feedings Maple and Raven still. Lots of meds around the clock, but I did get sleep between. Thank you for your kind words. @theswiftiekittens said.

We are still alive and snuggling. It’s feeding time but I can’t bear to wake them. Rest is very important to heal. I’ll wake them in 30 and check their vitals give them fluids and nutrition. @theswiftiekittens said.

Nutmeg is fighting Panleukopenia and is much improved. She’s eating canned food now. She has a lot to say about her isolation though. @theswiftiekittens said.

I’d say she’s my favorite panleukopenia survivor but then there was Chuck Norris! She doesn’t have to know though. Nutmeg is thriving. @theswiftiekittens said.

Sweet little Nutmeg is doing great. We’ve decided she’s cured! She has 2 weeks until she’s not shedding virus anymore. @theswiftiekittens said.

Toast is keeping the panleukopenia fight up. She has cerebellar hypoplasia so she’s wobbly but we’ve found a way to help her stay stable while eating. Her recent labs show an elevation in her white blood cells so next step is treating an infection and the diarrhea. She’s the sweetest baby. @theswiftiekittens said.

Kitten enrichment is so very important. Nutmeg is loving this play mat with all the dangling toys. She has my heart and I’d do anything for her, what about you? @theswiftiekittens said.

She may be wobbly but Toast is figuring out how to play. Each day we are seeing a little improvement. I’m a little at a loss about her diarrhea though. No parasites, the panleukopenia has resolved but maybe it’s taking longer for her gut to heal. Either way, enjoy this little girl playing with some toys. @theswiftiekittens said.

Sometimes you need a sister to nap next to you to help you feel better and to get that support. Toast is loving the raw food, but her white blood cell count is even higher. We’ve started her on a new antibiotic and we are hopeful it will help. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Little Nutmeg is thriving. ☺️ @theswiftiekittens said.
