Say hello to kitten Ursa, our newest and floofiest little bear cub!
I am OBSESSED. I don’t play favorites but every foster will tell you that some kittens do tug on your heart strings a bit harder than the others. As soon as I pulled her skinny little self from the carrier and she started an impassioned tale all about her 5 hour journey here, everything inside me just melted. And I don’t know if it’s her scruffy floof or her smolness or that wide-eyed look trying to take everything in all at once, but Ursa reminds me so much of Nico at this age. So I’m already a goner!
She is around 3 weeks old but she’s heartbreakingly bony and weighs half of what she should. While she’s a decent latcher, she isn’t taking in nearly as much as she should and needs some supplementary tube feeding to help catch her up. She’s definitely an Ursa Minor right now but after a few weeks of good eating and good loving, I am hopeful she will become an Ursa Major with big looks that match her current big zest for life!

Thanks for all your great U name suggestions the other day! When the little guy and I finished scrolling through them all, I asked him, “So, are you a Uriel or a Ulysses?” He looked at me very seriously and said: “I’m a Vincent.” And I said, “so you are!”
So, everyone, please say hello to Mr. kitten Vincent! Between his perfect stubby little tail, his silver coat with just hints of tabby stripes underneath, and his sweetly earnest expressions, this guy is cuter than cute! He is doing great with the bottle and is already insisting that he would like to explore beyond his little world. I am so excited to watch him continue to grow!

kitten Ursa and Vincent would like you to know they are starting to get the hang of this whole growing & gaining thing! 💪🏻
Their first few days here were a little dicey, especially with kitten Ursa. She was already extremely underweight and she was still losing fast. She’s around 3-4 weeks old but only weighed 186g 🥺 Both she and Vincent had some pretty nasty diarrhea and they stopped eating for a day. I immediately started them on antibiotics and nutritional supplements and although we’re still working out their poop, they are doing much, much better overall. Ursa no longer feels like a fragile baby bird who might break just by being held and yesterday she started playing with a ball! As for Vince, he adores belly rubs and, ever since his one day food strike, is now not at all shy about demanding snacks in between his scheduled meals. He loves to skitter around the pen with crazy, short bursts of boy energy!
