I got an intake request from IG asking if I could take in these babies. The finder waited for hours for mama to return, but she never did😔 So she took in these babies and started bottle feeding them. She immediately noticed they were missing limbs and started reaching out for rescue for them.

When I saw the message and the photos of these babies, I could not say no. And the timing worked out since I was transferring Benny to another foster. The finder was in Northern California, but coming to LA for the weekend for her sister’s birthday. So she drove down with the babies and I picked them up from her on Saturday morning🙏

When I picked them up, I noticed they had upper respiratory infections, as they were sneezing and had ocular and nasal discharge. When I got them home, I realized they had severe explosive liquid diarrhea and severe fecal scald from the diarrhea. Bunny’s was so severe, that it had caused a mild rectal prolapse and was actively bleeding. Bunny also had scabs all around her mouth and her right eye was swollen and sealed shut with infection. Bunny had an abscess on the top of his head. They both had fleas.

Needless to say, these babies have A LOT going on😣 But I am working closely with our vet and treating all of their medical issues. We did a Panleuk test yesterday, which was negative (thankfully🙏), and we sent a fecal sample out for PCR panel.

They are on antibiotics, probiotics, and receiving wound care. They are eating well and are alert and active, despite everything! And Bunny has already started purring after eating😭🥹

We still have a long way to go getting these babies healthy. Please continue to pray for them and send healing energy🙏✨

Bunny looks rough now with her URI, eye infection, scabs, sores and fleas😣 But hopefully she’ll be feeling better soon now that she’s receiving treatment!🤞

Bunny has a strong and sweet spirit💪🥰 She loves to eat and will scramble her way over her brother to eat first, even though he’s twice her size😆👏

She has the loudest purr motor, I can hardly believe such a big sound can come from such a tiny body😆🥰 She purrs after every feeding, loves to be held, and looks into your eyes when you talk and sing to her🥹

Otter is such a sweet and special boy😻🦁

He has a lot of medical issues going on right now, but he also has a strong and sweet spirit!💪🥰

You can tell Otter feels protective of his sister, Bunny🥹 He always wants to be close to her and will wrap his body around her to sleep😭🥰

Otter is missing part of his right front arm and a few toes on the left front hand. But that doesn’t slow him down!👏😻 He’s already so full of life and personality, despite not feeling well🥹✨ @babykittenrescue said.

Bunny is missing both of her front arms❤️

It could be that mama cat accidentally bit them off at birth when cleaning her. But if so, the wounds are fully healed at this point and don’t appear to cause her any pain🙏

It could also just be a congenital malformation. She has some kinks in her tail too. Once she’s healthy and older, we will have x-rays done to get a better idea of what’s going on internally🩻
•
And don’t worry, cats with only 2 legs can live totally normal, happy lives!😻 Kittens quickly pick up how to walk on their back legs, like a little bunny😉🐇

Also @dr.mattmcglasson ‘s cat, Ru, has only her front legs that are functional, but that does not hold her back!👏😻

It may take Bunny a little longer to figure it out than walking on all 4s, but I have no doubt she we’ll be zooming around on her 2 legs in no time!🥰

Bunny’s care will be expensive as we need to run diagnostic tests, like x-rays, and may need to see specialty vets and seek additional services, like physical therapy. He’s got a feisty spirit and demands what he wants🍼😆 But after he’s full, he just wants to be held and give you face kisses😭🥰

We are getting x-rays done for both Bunny and Otter next week🩻 And I got them both scheduled for physical therapy evaluations in 2 weeks!🥳
