So this is what I’ve been doing the past 20 hrs. These are Regal’s kitten babies, from @fosterkittendiary. Several foster homes are going to share caring for these newborns kitten during this difficult phase. At this age kittens get fed and pottied every 2 hours. It takes about 25 minutes so that leaves very little time for sleep. Its easier on everyone if we each do a couple days then switch off. It takes a village!

kitten Romaine (blue) is very robust and healthy. As is kitten Rhubarb (purple). kitten Russet (red) is always hangry and keeps climbing out of the tote 😆kitten Raspberry (orange) is struggling bit, she’s wrapped in a burrito and tucked down my top as I type this. I just want her to feel my heart and warmth and to know she’s loved and not alone. Please send some love to her, and to her sister Radish who we said goodbye to in the wee hours this morning ❤🌈 @whiskersnpurrs said.

She was doing just fine, until this afternoon when she started fading. She crossed the rainbow bridge early this evening 🌈

Radish and Raspberry are my first foster losses. It’s been rough, but I’m ok. I know that neonatal orphans are very high risk. Sometimes even extraordinary measures aren’t enough.

Both girls spent their last hours wrapped up in a burrito, tucked into my shirt against my heart. I sang to them, and stroked their tiny heads and told them what beautiful brave souls they were. They were loved. Sometimes that has to be enough ❤ @whiskersnpurrs said.
