Nutmeg is sleeping in this morning.😴
Nutmeg also has me worried because she hasn’t gained well either. She is at 120g. I’m supplementing her as well. @windycityfosters said.
Nutmeg isn’t gaining either, which is strange since she’s always nursing. I’m concerned it’s a congenital issue. I also noticed she had blood in her poop, which could be worms or it could be an effect of congenital issues. This is most likely affecting nutrient absorption. I’m supplementing her same as Basil. @windycityfosters said.
Sage is such a good mom. I’m so grateful that she allows me to handle them. I may be supplementing, but she’s the one cleaning them, feeding them, and keeping them warm and safe.♥️

Basil and Nutmeg are doing good. This morning I actually saw Basil fight for a nipple and win! I stopped feeding Nutmeg as much because she developed diarrhea. I’m now giving her a little pedialyte to avoid dehydration and I’m making sure she gets time with mom. Her belly seems full, so I believe she’s getting enough milk from Sage. @windycityfosters said.
Guess who opened their eyes? Well, only one eye. Nutmeg and Basil both opened one little eye last night. Rosemary (who is off camera nearby) is starting to open her eyes too! @windycityfosters said.

Nutmeg is back! The vet tech took her home and tube fed her last night and she gained 6 grams! I’m going to try and bottle/syringe feed her, but if she isn’t gaining then tube feeding it is. Also, the two vet techs were arguing over whether Nutmeg was a boy or a girl… I still think she’s a girl, but I guess only time will tell!🤷🏻♀️ @windycityfosters said.

All the kittens are also being put on three medications (in the second picture). Clavamox (to prevent infection), pyrantel (to prevent worms), and Albon (to prevent coccidia). All precautionary! @windycityfosters said.

Nutmeg has some great news!! She gained a whopping 40 grams in the last 3 days! Her face is starting to fill back out, her ribs have some cushion over them, and she’s starting to fight for a nipple again! Things are looking up! @windycityfosters said.

Sage is such a sweetheart. You hear everyone say that the mama cats are the ones that truly fill your heart and it’s true. She’s such a good mother and a hard worker (as all moms are)! Even through all the supplementing, having her baby taken away for a night, and me handling them every day, she has never faltered in her care for them. @windycityfosters said.

Nutmeg wanted to let you know she reached 230 grams and is no longer being supplemented! Gone is the thin, gaunt little kitten that I feared wouldn’t live to two weeks old. @windycityfosters said.
