Meet kitten Fawn, named after the Fawn River in Indiana. {update}
There were SO many great name theme suggestions that are definitely being used later on! But I decided to stick with a nature theme since they will likely be introduced to the lava rocks at some point and I feel their names should somewhat match. The theme I chose: American rivers! Meet Fawn, named after the Fawn River in Indiana. As the friendliest kitten in the litter, Fawn loves to explore and isn’t afraid to walk right up to me. She gives confidence to her more fearful siblings and is already playing a key role in their socialization!

Oh little kitten Fawn, you’re too fluffy for your own good! Always getting wet food stuck in her fur and staining it brown… she has to get baby wipe baths after every meal!🛁 @windycityfosters said.
River kittens are about 6 weeks old and got their first round of kitten shots today! We try not to give vaccinations while they’re sick, but if I do end up having to bring them in to the shelter clinic for meds/fluids, it could expose them to disease. We’ve decided to go ahead and vaccinate in order to protect them from those potential diseases. I’ll be keeping a very close eye on them to make sure there are no dangerous side effects. @windycityfosters said.

It finally happened… we FINALLY have a vet appointment for the river kittens! I drop them off at the shelter tomorrow at 8:45 am where they will be taken to a vet clinic closer to Chicago with the Friday spay/neuter transport. I then pick them up in the afternoon. I wish I could have gone with them to the vet, but at this point I’m just happy they got an appointment. I’ve already written out every single detail to give to the vet. I’m so excited to fix this diarrhea issue so my babies don’t have to suffer anymore! @windycityfosters said.
Rushing Fawn to the vet. Lethargy, loss of appetite, and dehydration this morning. Please keep this little girl in your thoughts. 🙁 @windycityfosters said.
The vet has decided to keep Fawn overnight to make sure she’s stable. This morning when I went to let them out of their play pen for breakfast, I noticed she was walking very slowly and seemed to be staring off into space. She ate a few bites of food but was uninterested in more. I immediately contacted the vet tech who told me to bring her in. She was then taken to a 24 hour vet where she will be getting the best care. All of the other river kittens are still bouncy energetic little crazies, so no worries for them. I will be picking Fawn up tomorrow assuming she becomes stable overnight. @windycityfosters said.
This video is from a few days ago… Fawn isn’t home with me yet. I do have a great update on her though! They said she’s doing a lot better and is eating good. She is staying overnight at a vet tech’s house to be monitored and I will be picking her up tomorrow! @windycityfosters said.

Fawn and her litter mates have been reunited! She looks SO much better. A full tummy and some subq fluids go a long way! She still has soft stool (🍦) but I’ll take that over diarrhea any day. So happy to have my fawny girl back. @windycityfosters said.

Happy to announce that the diarrhea is officially gone! The Albon is working and tomorrow is their last day on it. So thankful that my “baby” brother has been taking such good care of them this week. I’ll be back home Monday night! @windycityfosters said.
Ok kitten Fawn you are WAY too cute. How are you even real??
Every morning is a sleepy morning but today we are extra sleepy for no particular reason at all.😴 @windycityfosters said.

Baby girl Fawn finally reached 2 lbs! All of the river kittens are now ready for #spayandneuter surgery and all we have to do is schedule a date. I’m so proud of this little girl, who was skin and bones just a few weeks ago. She now has a plump belly and more energy than she herself knows what to do with! @windycityfosters said.
Happy 4th of July from #theriverkittens! Fawn reminds you to stay hydrated, Columbia and Hudson remind you to have fun, and everyone reminds you to keep your furbabies safe indoors!🎇🎆🇺🇸 @windycityfosters said.

Fawn the whisker queen!👑
The whisker queen was adopted yesterday and spent her first night in her forever home! I don’t know who the adopter was, but I’m sure they are wonderful and I know they’re going to love her. Congrats Fawn!♥️👑 @windycityfosters said.
