Oh Buddy. (adopting a cat)

Buddy was a cat spotted lying near a busy roadway by one of our fosters. She pulled over to see if he was okay but when she approached him he began hobbling across the busy street somehow making it safely to the neutral ground before collapsing in the grass. She grabbed some food from her trunk and followed him. When she opened the can he slowly and cautiously made his way to her. With some patience and the help of another foster they were able to safely secure him.

We weren’t entirely sure we would ever introduce Buddy because we were pretty certain humane euthanasia was going to be his kindest option based on our initial assessment, however Buddy has shown that he’s not the saddest old feral kitty that ever did live. He is actually a very sweet guy who has just endured years of hardships outdoors. His body is covered in scars and matted fur, he has deformed ears from years of mite infestations, patches of fur missing, fresh wounds on his back and front leg and is FIV positive. Despite all of this, the vet agreed that this rough looking guy still has life left to live so we’d like to give him a chance. In order for us to do so we first need a foster home that can show him the kindness that he’s been missing all these years. If that’s you please submit a foster application at the link in bio. Only then can we move forward with getting him on the road to recovery.  @tomatofosterclub said .

It’s incredibly heartwarming that so many care about Buddy. We believe Buddy deserves a chance to experience all the love and comfort he’s missed out on throughout his life and we’re very happy to share that he will have that chance.

Buddy has a foster-to-adopt home in Boston, Massachusetts with a wonderful family. He will have other kitty friends (yes FIV+ and FIV- kitties can coexist) and finally a carefree life to look forward to. Now that Buddy has a home lined up we can work on getting him fixed up. First up is getting him.. fixed ✂️. Next is addressing his mouth which will need a good bit of work and honestly who knows what else will come up for a seasoned fella like him. If you’re able to chip in towards Buddy’s medical care you can do so at the link in our bio or Venmo @tomatofosterclub.

Let’s get Buddy Boston ready and bound ♥️ @tomatofosterclub said .

Tomorrow is a big day for everyone because it’s the day Buddy meets his forever mama !! Buddy still has some healing to do before he can undergo surgery, but he’s been cleared by the vet to fly ✈️ back home with his mama to do so! We are so overjoyed for Buddy and hope you are too ❤️ @tomatofosterclub said .

Next Story > Meet our newest rescue. This little 1 Scottish fold has quite the noggin injury. Unsure what caused it but she came from really poor conditions with her sister.
