I got her and her kittens babies! Story time!

It’s a really sad start but better ending. This lady called in and wanted us to dispose of kittens. That’s right dispose of new born kittens. So we asked if the kittens were alive. And she said yes, she just didn’t want them anymore. She wanted the kittens gone but she wanted her adult cat to be spayed. She wouldn’t change her mind. We convinced her to let us keep the cat with the kittens overnight while we came up with a plan. That night I discussed with the rescue how we could get them to let us keep mom with babies for at least a little longer. They suggested we offer to cover the costs of moms spay and the other cats in the home. Next day, we were able to convince her to let me keep mama cat for at least two weeks with her kittens so that way they can still have mamas milk. Then we will spay mom and all of the other cats at the house. Immediate relief.

I have to remind myself not to judge. I don’t know their situation. Be grateful. They called the clinic. Now I can help many more cats in their home. @theswiftiekittens said.

Just an update. The other 4 babies are doing well. There’s some sneezing, but overall weight gain. They are on antibiotics. The little red baby died from pneumonia and gut stasis. We don’t know why he got so sick so suddenly but we tried. Thanks to Jennifer @washougal_foster_kittens for helping try to save him and being there for when he passed. @theswiftiekittens said.

Slowly coming to terms that momma will be spayed tomorrow and her kittens will be left without her. I’ll be their mom and bottle feeding them. Sometimes people suck, but I keep reminding myself that they got 2 extra weeks of time with mom and they are alive. @theswiftiekittens said.
