Meet kitten Pomelo! He was found in a bush and his mom didn’t come back for him for many hours yesterday, so @kitten.foster.corner scooped him up for a couple hours until I picked him up last night. He’s chonky at 109 grams! Which is pretty good for a 2-3 day old kitten. 🧡 @themarigoldkittencrew said .

kitten Pomelo is struggling today with constant crying and a decreased appetite. He is being tube fed to keep his weight on track, getting sugar supplements, and he’s got a heartbeat stuffy to decrease any distress he’s experiencing. It is difficult to pinpoint what is going wrong with a kitten who is only a few days old, but the best way to monitor them is keeping track of vitals and health markers. Temperature, weight, body condition score, gum color, stool score, urine color, respiratory rate, and appetite.
Making note of these things a few times a day or every at every feeding can catch things early and help you act appropriately. Many times there is nothing that can be done, especially in cases where a mother cat abandoned the kitten. But let’s hope things look up for this guy.🤞 @themarigoldkittencrew said .
