Meet kitten Panela, a little one week old kitten who came in on a transport yesterday with her mom and littermates. Unfortunately she had likely not eaten the entire 8 hour drive due to her mom being nervous so when I picked them up she was cold and lethargic in the back of the carrier.
After a couple hours on the heating pad and getting fluids, B12, karo syrup on the gums, and starting antibiotics she started to gain energy. I took her home for the night to be tube feed and monitored. She still won’t eat on her own, but she’s alert and that’s all I can ask of her right now! @themarigoldkittencrew said.

Panela has turned into a semi-chonky kitten in the past two days! She’s still a little skinny but she’s decided to eat from a syringe today and didn’t need the tube so she’s on the up-and-up. She gets to reunite her with her mom tomorrow—an exciting thing I rarely get to do with my fosters!💕 @themarigoldkittencrew said.
💕kitten Panela💕
Here’s your Panela update. Remember when I said she was doing well enough to go back to mom? Well unfortunately shortly after I said that, I learned that mom was not doing well enough to take her back. She (mama) had to be started on a slew of medications due to lack of appetite and overall feeling unwell.
So Panela gets to stay with me for now. She’s an easy enough bottle baby after than initial rough patch. Here’s hoping her mom and litter mates start improving.🤞 @themarigoldkittencrew said.
