Kittenland welcomes two new babies! 🧡🖤
Introducing Frank (orange) and Stein (black). These 2 boys are 3 weeks old today.
Here is what we know-
They were born outside with other litter mates. The lady who found them in her yard said that the mom cat moved all 5 kittens to another location, but the next day returned only these 2 to the porch and never came back for them. In hopes of catching the mom, the lady put these two in a carrier and waited and watched for the mom to return but she never did, so these wee ones have been at the shelter and cared for by the shelter staff for 2 weeks.
Frank and Stein are sucklers so I have them in the incubator with a separator for the time being.
You’ll notice some goopy eyes which look even more goopy with medicated ointment in them.

Oh the dilemma Frank faces- to stay in the Christmas house (don’t judge; it was a gift and is comfy and juuussst the right size) or to explore what lies beyond the threshold 😺 @kitten_faces said.

The tinies still struggle with weight gains and 💩 issues, typical of late season babies born outside to (probably) unhealthy moms.
They are sweeties in spite of all the bum baths they’ve been getting. I use coconut oil on their tender bottoms to soothe and protect from the diarrhea.
At night they sleep in the incubator and during the day and when I can keep an eye on them, they have yard time in the playpen together. @kitten_faces said.

Stein is a tiny monster 👿
Or a vampire. 🦇
NOTE: This kind of early play among kittens 3-4 weeks old is normal. They are teething and often explore with their mouths. If one kitten feels it’s getting too rough, he will move away or make a noise of protest. This is how they learn limits of what is too rough. @kitten_faces said.

Frank hopes for (as do I) a visit from the Firm Poop Fairy 🧚♀️ so that I do not have to give him so many bum baths.

An actual conversation between me and Stein at 3:30 a.m.-
Me: “Stein, how shall I caption this picture of you?”
Stein: “My pictures need no caption, Foster Mom. Let the picture speak for itself.” 😹
He is so profound. @kitten_faces said.
