Good morning from Kitten land! Tomorrow the tinies will be 3 weeks old! @kitten_faces said.
Some “action shots” of the tinies and an update.
The phrase “hot mess” is appropriate here. A few days ago all of them began having 💩 issues. I immediately discontinued contact between them and the older kittens; fortunately they never really had much direct contact.
Kittens usually begin showing symptoms of parasites around 2-3 weeks. Most kittens born outside inherit these bugs from mom during pregnancy and birth, and it generally takes a few weeks for the parasites to begin wreaking havoc.
We are treating with several medications, prebiotics, probiotics, fluids. I’m in daily contact with the veterinary team at the shelter.
Good news is they are maintaining weight, although they are still underweight for their age. These kiddos are a little over half a pound, so they truly are “tinies”.
It’s always amazing to me how such small creatures can create such large piles of laundry!
They are not so fluffy looking these days and a little bit smelly but I love them.
