This handsome tuxie boy is Galiano. I figured a dapper fellow like him needed a distinguished name 😍 #gulfislandkittens .
The new babies came from Thetis Island, so are named after the Gulf Islands. I live on Vancouver Island which is a very large island off the western coast of Canada. In between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia are dozens of smaller islands. They are grouped into Northern and Southern Gulf Islands. I’ve been inundated with dozens of requests specifically to adopt Saturna or “the beautiful brown kitten”. It’s disappointing to me that people are willing to make a major life decision based solely on appearance. Cats live 15-20 years! What if you’re the type of person that that prefers a snuggly lap cat, and you pick the ‘beautiful’ one that’s aloof and independent? (ps: Saturna is the latter currently).

Every kitten has a unique personality, and the number one criteria for choosing a new family member should be how well they will fit with your lifestyle, the energy of your home, and your personality. It’s ok to have a ‘type’ of course. You all know I’m drawn to colourpoints and calicos! Yet I adopted two bicolours – because I loved their natures.

Regarding adoptions… there’s been too many requests for me to reply to individually, and most are outside of our adoption area. The thing I love about the rescue I’m currently partnered with for this litter is that they match kittens to the adopters based on the kittens needs and what the adopter has indicated they’re looking for. They take preapplications and there will be a home visit before you’re approved (which is why adopters must live local – North Nanaimo to Qualicum). Kittens are adopted in pairs when possible, or to a home with a young playful cat. If you fit this criteria, you can email me (not DM) to request an application. Your application will be kept on file and you’ll be matched when the right kitten comes along 🐱 @whiskersnpurrs said.
